Plonesnė Sony PSP versija, pavadinta PSP-2000, pasirodys Japonijoje, Šiaurės Amerikoje ir Europoje jau rugsėjo mėn. Kelios naujovės/patobulinimai: PSP-2000 pasirodys su TV Out jungtimi, greitesniais UMD žaidimų užkrovimų greičiais ir galimybe pakrauti PSP per USB jungtį.
PSP-2000 storis yra 18.6mm (PSP-1000 versija buvo 23mm), storis 189g (ankstesnė versija – 280g). Numatoma kaina 199$.
Japonijoje patvirtina, kad PSP turės tris spalvas:
- Piano Black (PSP-2000PB)
- Ice Silver (PSP-2000IS)
- Cyramic White (PSP-2000CW)
